This lesson focuses on many of the terms the students will need to learn in order to better understand evolution better. Some of the words have to do with the effect of Natural Selection and different trends that Natural Selection may show in the evolution of species.
Objectives
Students will be able to give examples from what they already know in nature to each of their new words.
I will start the class off by handing out the graded quizzes to each of the students. We will as a class go over then answers and share some of the examples students used for acclimation and adaptation. Any very interesting examples I will show on youtube incase students are interested in seeing it. (10-15 min)
Engagement
"Today we will be learning some more terms that are important in evolution. Bees as we know get nectar from flowers but has anyone ever wondered why bees are so important to flowers? How did mammals become aquatic animals such as whales? Today we will find out how from our slides. Students will be required to fill in their study note sheets at the same time as I go through the power point
(15 - 20 min)
Closing
I will give the students their homework assignment then the students can put away their notes into their science folders and gather in groups at the lab benches. They will begin exploring the website I give to them that they will be working with the next day. Get ready to learn about the different periods of the earth
